Advances In Polymeric Materials For Dental Applications
Objectives: This review has talked about the structure, properties and applications of various polymers in dentistry. Methods: Conventional restoration focuses on the enhancement of mechanical properties, such as the polymer shrinkage rate and fracture resistance but nowadays, the bioactivity of dental materials also gained wide popularity. Results: Exploring the application of new materials adopting the concept of bionics in dentistry is of great interest, like peptide inspired from salivary-acquired pellicles. Conclusions: The immense potential of polymers for a wide range of dental applications has now opened up new horizons into the emerging field of dentistry with bright future prospects.
