Comparison of Changes in Linear Cephalometric Measurements Following Administration of Innovated Seifi Functional
Objectives: The aim of this prospective clinical trial was to compare the outcomes of administration of innovated functional appliance i.e. Seifi Functional on treatment of Class II Division 1, Deepbite (mean age of 10.12±1.45 year) and acquiring knowledge about changes in the linear cephalometric measurements. Methods: A total of 20 subjects with Class II Division 1, Deepbite malocclusion received treatment with innovated Seifi functional. Inclusion criteria were mandibular deficiency, ANB>4 degrees, Overjet>4mm, and Overbite>4mm. The device consisted of two compartments Results: Linear cephalometric measurements were significantly increased including Co-ANS (p<0.05), Co-Gn, Co-Go, and Lower Mandibular First Molar-to-Mandibular Plane in millimeter (p<0.001). A-B difference, Overbite, and Overjet were significantly diminished, all measured in millimeter (p<0.001). Conclusions: Treatment of Class II, Division 1 malocclusion with deepbite following administration of innovated Seifi functional leads to significantly favorable outcomes such as increased mandibular dimension and better position. In addition to the above mentioned improvements, better mandibular first molar eruption and reduced overbite and overjet are among outcomes of the treatment procedure.
