Oral Health Disparities Research in a Inner-City African American Population

The speaker is Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Health Services Research, and Director of the Division of Dental Public Health at Boston University. Prior to joining the Faculty at Boston University he was an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Dr. Sohn's research focus has centered primarily on reducing oral health disparities by understanding and addressing various psychosocial, behavioral, physical, and environmental factors related to oral disease; and on health services research to improve access to quality dental care. He has completed a number of NIH/CDC-funded research projects with these focuses and has been deputy director of the NIH-funded Detroit Center for Research on Oral Health Disparities. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dental Public Health, and also serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, and the Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology.
