Objectives: Evaluate the pertinence and impact of health promotion program and the implementation of specific protection and rehabilitation techniques.
Methods: A total of 119 preschool children were examined. It was made and initial evaluation of children's oral health including ICDASII, Fluorosis Index, Simplified Oral Hygiene Index, and it was taken malocclusion references; it also was made a dietary analysis to identify risk factors. Preventive and Health Promotion activities were conducted for 3 months lapse, and after that, again Simplified Oral Hygiene Index.
Results: The prevalence of caries was 60.5%. Prevalence on females was 24.3 % and 36.1% males. Most affected age group was 5 years old. CEO average was 4.87. IHOS initial was 1.59. The analysis allowed to detect a trend of 80.5% of population to develop class I Angle, 4% had trends to develop class II and 12.5% class III, a group of 2.5% had open bite that could be associated with oral habits. After intervention we approached the diminution of IHOS Index to 1.08.
Conclusions: We must strengthen preventive programs aimed at improving oral health, hygienic and dietary habits among preschool children, and must design them according to the needs of each specific population. Key words. Preschool children, children health, oral health, promotion of health.
