Contemporary Implant Surgery: Fundamentals of Long-term Predictable Treatment Outcome

Objectives: Replacement of missing teeth by use of dental implants has become a standard of care and is provided by many clinicians with varying levels of training. For long-term predictable treatment outcomes, it is important for a dental surgeon to understand the basics of correct prosthetic implant positioning and how to manage peri-implant soft and hard tissues by use of various regeneration materials.
Methods: Megagen dental implants (Anyridge System) and range of regeneration materials will be used during this course. This workshop will be a two day course:
Day 1: Single Implant Placement- Using Bone Blocks and Megagen dummy implants
Day 2: Soft Tissue management, Bone Grafting/Ridge augmentation- Using sheep’s heads and Megagen Regenerative Materials
Results: At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

> Understand critical soft and hard tissue dimensions around dental implants
> Understand prosthetically driven 3-Dimensional implant placement
> Place an implant correctly
> Design and perform different surgical flaps on sheep’s heads
> Use different suturing techniques for soft-tissue management
> Manage minor hard/soft-tissue defects using particulate grafting and resorbable membranes on animal heads
Conclusions: A practical appraoch to hard and soft tissues surgery around implants is pivotal to longterm success.
