Orthodontic treatment in Adults and children

Objective: The aim of this study is to show the orthodontics treatment in adults and children and to evaluate the success rate. The causes of complications and treatment dalliance are well discussed. Positive and negative aspects of behavioral and habitual conditions of patients which have an input to the treatment are well discussed

Method: All patients included in this study, were treated in Mikias Dental Service Addis Ababa, and successfully completed their treatment. Mikias Dental Service is the first dental service in Ethiopia owned by a dental professional. From the patents register all cases were taken and carefully studied. Each appointment note and treatment was examined and the maximum length of treatment recorded.

Result: The complications of treatment in children and adults were entirely different. In children most of the time brackets or molar bands were lost but in adults there were missing appointment complication and a premature time request of bracket removal.

Conclusion:

In some cases children were better in the treatment success but among those properly completed their treatment, adults have a very pleasant treatment success than children.
