Surgical Treatment of impacted teeth classification and success rate

Objective: The aim of this study is to show the different types of tooth impaction and the surgical technique used for each type of impaction. The method used to avoid complications and to reach a successful result is well explained. 

Method: All patients included in this study, were treated in Mikias Dental Service Addis Ababa, by the author. Mikias Dental Service is the first dental service in Ethiopia owned by a dental professional. From the x-ray register of the clinic all impacted teeth were selected and matched with the patient data. The gender classification and age of paints noted. The result of surgical procedure properly examined and reported

Result: Among the patients surgically treated there was not significant complication or unwanted results registered. The maximum healing dalliance registered was only two weeks by patients with dry socket and simple infection. Numbness of the lower mandibular nerve was reported by two patients and by one of them normalized within two weeks and the other patient didn't come for control visit after the second week of operation. 

Conclusion: The outcome of the surgical treatment was successful and all patients were appointed for control visit aster three days and suture was removed after a week where applicable. In cases of delayed healing or pain du to dry socket alveogyl dressing was used successfully and the first application was enough in most cases.
