Effect Of Sodium Hypochlorite In The Penetration And MicrOleakage Of A Pit And Fissure Sealant

Objectives: To establish the effect of conditioning the enamel with sodium hypochlorite (HCl) 5.25% in the penetration and microfiltration of a pit and fissure sealant
Methods: This study was approved by the ethics committee and used 40 healthy premolars extracted for orthodontic reasons, donated under informed consent. They were randomly divided into 2 groups (n = 20)1.Control or conventional technique etching 15s (Total Etch, Ivoclar Vivadent) and application of Helioseal F (Ivoclar Vivadent) 2. HCl 5.25% for 60s before the conventional technique . They were divided into 2 groups (n = 10) for microfiltration and penetration. Microfiltration teeth varnish were applied and immersed in methylene blue for 24 hours at 37°C, sectioned and examined in stereomicroscope at 40X. In the group for penetrating the "technique replica polyvinylsiloxane and acid solution" (VRADT) was proposed, using an a polyvinylsiloxane impression of the occlusal area, which was photographed, having as device positioner a micrometer (Mitutoyo) adapted for the technology. Then the teeth were removed micrometer, immersed in diluted hydrochloric acid for 24 enamel and obtaining the three dimensional structure of the sealants to be repositioned and photographed. The images of replicas and sealants were superimposed by them and measured the difference between they, with analyzer of images Motic 3.2. Data were analyzed with the Wilconxon test.
Results: The teeth treated with 5.25% HCl showed no microfiltration, and showed statistically greater penetration of the sealant (p ≤ 0.05) (with an average of 121μ, compared to the control group.
Conclusions: HCl 5,25% application for 60s generated a minor microfiltration and improved the penetration of the sealant of pits and fissures. The technology VRADT, it is useful in the evaluation of the penetration of the sealants
