Clinical studies Título :"Radiographic and clinical evaluation of primary teeth treated with IRT in Baby Clinic in Fouch" In Chile the prevalence of caries lesions reaches a 17% in children of age of two. The use of simple atraumatic approaches to manage the situation of this patients has been advocated. Objectives: To demostrate that glass ionomer interim temporary restorations (ITR) could be an efective treatment for patients that assist to Baby ’s Clinic Dental School, University of Chile.
Methods: In this study 18 preschool patients were treated with IRT prior informed consent .The patients were evaluated clinical and radiological at six , one and two years after the treatment was done.
Some of the criteria for inclusion in this study were patients with early childhood caries ; patients with deep enamel and dentin lesions with no history of spontaneous pain and patients without systemic , intellectual and cognitive. involvement that had at least two or three radiographic exam , one at the start
but having two or three clinical and rx post treatment controls
Results: There was 68 tooth treated with IRT and glass ionomer vitremer and only two teeth had to be subsequently treated with pulpotomy (97% succes)
Conclusions: ITR can be a succesful alterntive for patients that have ECC and can not be treated with convenctional tecniques for patiens that assist to Baby ’s Clinic Dental School , University of Chile.
