Dentistry Program Accreditation of the Valle University.

Objectives: Describe the relevant aspects of the process of self-evaluation of the Dentistry Academic Program of the Universidad del Valle, in Cali Colombia, carried out for the third time and based on the report's self-evaluation 2008-2014.
Methods: The model concept of the National Accreditation Board, "Guide for the renewal of academic programs, 2006” was followed. It proposes eight factors that valued the substantive functions of the program, teaching, research and social projection. Factors were subdivided into features, which are evaluated through indicators of quantitative and/or qualitative nature. The sources were documentaries, non-documentary. 152 students, 36 professors, 6 directors, 11 administrative members, 77 graduates and 7 employers were surveyed. The categorization of indicators was based on the proposal of the Universidad del Valle that included four rating intervals: less than 3.0 unsatisfactory; 3.0-3.6 satisfactory; 3.7-4.2 high grade; 4.3-5.0 fully.
Results: The mission and institutional project factor was described in 4.4; students 4.5; Professors 4.7; .academic processes 4.5; welfare institutional 4.3; organization administration management 4.4; graduates and impact on the environment 4.6; financial and physical resources 4.4. All in range of fully for a total average score of 4.5.
Conclusions: The program has maintained some strength and has worked to overcome the weaknesses detected in the process of self-evaluation for accreditation in 2007. The program was accredited by the National Accreditation Board for 8 years (9-11).
