Relationship of Oral Health in Primary Health Care. An experience in the "Territorios Saludables" program,"Localidad Cuarta - San Cristóbal” in Bogotá.

Objectives: To analyze the relationship of oral health to primary health care teams “Territorios Saludables” in two micro territories of the “Localidad Cuarta - San Cristóbal” in Bogotá.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was designed with qualitative emphasis, in four phases as follows: documentary phase, aimed at obtaining and documenting the issue by reviewing existing literature and information about the program under study. Phase on social space directed to make a gradual and growing immersion in the territory with the communities studied and the health team “Territorios Saludables” Program through the implementation of intensive research techniques: participant observation, participatory use of geo-referencing systems and social mapping, discussions and semi-structured interviews. This phase took about a year and a half.
Results: Oral Health professional is partially involved in two areas of the five that contains the program. The integration of oral health in the community and the team is weak, mainly due to poor training in PHC and in fields related to this knowledge. The dislocation between the program “Territorios Saludables” and health services of the Localidad Cuarta, is evident in the absence of a common goal for resolving problems and health needs of the community.
Conclusions: It is needed a closer relationship between communities and teams for developing complex proposals such as social determination in which the territory is a central reference, and understand how the problems in the health process gestate - serving them disease from the general through the particular and the singular with active and conscious participation of communities with real social inclusion and strengthening capacities of resolution in the training of professionals.
