Competition Inhibition of Actinomyces Viscosus to Porphyromonas gingivalis in Growth
Objectives: To evaluate antagonistic effects on the growth of P .gingivalis from A. viscosus cells and supernatant fluid. Methods: Growth curve and agar plates test were used. Results: A. viscosus could inhibit the growth of P. gingivalis, whereas, the supernatant fluid of A. viscosus didn't show inhibition characteristic in the inhibition zone test. Conclusions: The existing inhibition factor could be assumed to be the growth velocity of A.viscosus, that is, A. viscosus could inhibit the growth of P. gingivalis competitively in coculture..
