Survey on Need for Oral Health Care of Rural Residents

Objective: The aim of this study was to survey the need for oral health care, and to search the regularity and correlation factors of oral diseases occurrence in Chinese rural residents. Methods: Data of 130 rural households and 516 residents had been collected from 1 sampling village by the household oral health interview survey. The sampling village located in the west of China typified rural residents with low or middle economy level. The information was analyzed with software such as Foxpro 6.0 and SPSS 11.5. According to medical evacuation support, the need for oral health care was classified into four degrees. Result: The survey results has been showed that 25.78% of residents needed no oral health care, 69.57% needed oral health care in regularly, 30.62% needed oral health care in quickly, and 0.97% needed dental emergencies. The survey has been also found out that needs for oral health care in female was higher than that in male. Conclusion: These results had shown that needs for oral health care in Chinese rural residents is very frequent and general, and the problem of female oral health of the rural residents should be thought highly of. We suggest that the work of oral health care is to be strengthened, and the order of oral health care is to be established.
