A preliminary report of new designed casting fixed functional appliance

Objectives: To introduce a new orthodontic functional appliance. Methods: A casting fixed functional appliance is designed to correct Class II malocclusion, which is satisfied for full time wear and can be used in association with edgewise appliance. Results: It achieves rapid functional correction of Class II malocclusion by transmiting favorable occlusal forces to inclined planes that covers the posterior teeth. In the mean time, edgewise appliances can be placed on the anterior teeth to correct their malpositions. Conclusions: This appliance may reduce the total treatment time and minimize the need for patient compliance.
