Applicational study on treating venous malformation at maxilloface

Objectives: To offer a new way of treatment by combining the advantages of instrallation using absolute ethanol (AE) injection and pingyangmycin (PYM) dynamic intranidus into maxillofacial venous malformation. Methods: Angiography was performed within all cases before treatment and proper dose of AE was injected according to the size of venous malformation. Angiography was used again to observe the changes of malformation vessel reflux after injection. Then mixture of PYM and natural salt were slowly infused into hidus of tumor. Results: 1.Angiography showed that outflow of the malformation was decreased after AE injection. 2.Good results was obtained by one to four times of PYM instrallation in all cases. 3.Local inflamation and other complications were not found in all cases. Conclusions: 1.AE has the aibility to obstruct reflux venous around the venous malformation. 2. Dynamic intranidus PYM and natural salt to treat venous malformation could prolong the function time of PYM and could have good clinical result.
