Experimental study of Bio-oss osteogenesis enchanced by basic FGF

Objectives: This subject aimed at investigating the effect of Bio-oss earlier osteogensis induced by basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) carried by PVP , and providing the experimental basis for clinical uses. Methods: 16 rabbits were randomly divided into four groups, 4 in each group. Rabbits in the experiment group received bFGF/PVP/Bio-oss and rats in the 2 control groups received PVP/Bio-oss , PVP respectively. In order to investigate osteogenesis and osteoinduction , histology analysis was perfomed at 1st,2nd,4th,8th weeks after the implantation . Calcium content of new bone was measured after drawing experimental material. Results: Proliferation and differentiation of mesenchymal cells , chondrogensis and osteogenesis induced by bFGF/PVP/Bio-oss appeared earlier than those induced by the control groups .The amount of osteogensis, capillary vessels and the calcium content of the experimental group were obviously greater than those of the control groups. Conclusions: This result indicated that bFGF could enchanced Bio-oss osteogensis , and PVP could be a suitable carrier for the soluble bFGF.
