Compare ability to remove plaque by toothbrushing of different gender
Objectives: To compare the ability to remove dental plaque of different gender. Methods: Subjects were divided into two groups, one was male, the other was female. Subjects were screened for dental plaque on all natural teeth except third molar, using the O'Leary plaque record before and after toothbrushing. The plaque control record was defined as: PCR=Total number of areas with plaque x 100% / Total number of areas scored. Results: The pre-brush PCR was compared with the post-brush PCR for the two groups, the female(Diff/PCR=63.95%) was significantly more effective ( P<0.01) than the man(Diff/PCR=53.53%) in removing plaques on the facial and near-central line dental surfaces of all natural teeth, different plaque removing rate was 16. 30 percent. Conclusions: In conclusion, the female removed significantly more plaque than the man, the differences of dental plaque remove efficiency were significant when the facial(22.83%)and near-central line (38.95) dental surfaces was evaluated.
