Correlation of cares experience between primary teeth and permanent molars
Objective: To investigate the correlation of cares experience between primary teeth and the permanent molars in children. Methods: A total of 250 schoolchildren 6-7 years old were surveyed in 1996. 52 schoolchildren had caries experience or dmft>5, 68 had No caries experience or dmft=0 and .Then they were surveyed again in 2001. 64 have Caries DMFT>1, and 56 have No caries DMFT=0. OR=23/11=2.09. The caries diagnosis criteria defined by WHO were employed. The data were statistically analysed by use of SAS. Fisher`s exact test showed that there was association between the caries experience of primary teeth in 6-7 years old children and that of the permanent molars in 12-13 years old children. Results:The results were statistically significant between primary teeth and permanent molars. Conclusion: The primary tooth caries experience may play an important role in predicting permanent tooth caries. More attention was suggested to pay to the children with permanent teeth decayed.
