The Influence of combined applications rhBMP with rhFGF-b or rhIGF-I on implant osseointegration

Objectives: To observe the different osseointegration of rhBMP-2/rhFGF-b/PLA, rhBMP-2/rhIGF-I/PLA, rhBMP-2/PLA or only PLA coating implants. Methods: Sixty-four long-ear rabbits were divided into four groups, every rabbit was implanted four implants including each style on both side femur bones randomly. The Rabbits were killed at 4,8,12,16 postoperative weeks. The implant-bone samples were embedded by MMA and 30um sections were used for scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). Results: After 4,8,12 weeks more collagen, lamellae bone and woven bone were observed gradually at the rhBMP-2/rhFGF-b/PLA, rhBMP-2/rhIGF-I/PLA implants than rhBMP-2/PLA or only PLA coating implants(p<0.05). Conclusions: Combined applications of rhBMP-2/rhFGF-b or rhBMP-2/rhIGF-I accelerate the implant osseointegration.
