Development of nano-zirconia ceramic composite for dental application

Objectives::To develope nano-zirconia(3Y) ceramic composite which can be applied as dental material. Methods: In this study we mixed different proportion of nano-zirconia(3Y) powder prepared by co-precipitation method with micron-zirconia substrate, and got nano-zirconia ceramic composite to test. Results: Along with the rising of nano-zirconia(3Y)powder ,the bend strength of sintered samples increased, the peak of bend strength appeared in the samples mingled with 10%(vol)of it,then decreased with the rising of nano-powder. Conclusions:Ceramic composite mingled with 10%(vol) nano-zirconia(3Y) powder had the best machenical properties,and could satisfy the need of dental applications.
