The Adjustment of Traditional Chinese Medicine On Chronic Periodontitis

Objectives:To evaluate the adjustment of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) about the net between immunity and incretion aspects on chronic periodontitis. Methods:Twenty female chronic periodontitis patients of 40¨C50 years old were randomly divided into two groups . The patients in test group were given TCM treatment and periodontal initial therapy, Other patients in control group were only given initial therapy. Then measured some cytokines in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) using ILISA method; and the level of sexy hormones in blood using immunoradiometric Assay . Results:the volume of GCF in test group decreased significantly after 3 and 12 months therapy (p<0.01); the concentration of interleukin-1b and interleukin-8 in test group also decreased significantly after 12 months treatment(p<0.01). However, there was only the concentration of interleukin-1b in control group decreased after 12 months therapy (p<0.05). After 3 months therapy, follicle-stimulating hormone and estradiol in two groups had no changes, but luteinizing hormone in test group decreased significantly(p<0.01). Conclusions:TCM can adjust the net between immunity and incretion aspects of Chronic Periodontitis patients.
