An experimental study on the inhibiting effect of Fluor Protector in the demineralization of bovine enamel caused by some beverages
objective:Soft drinks and Fruit juice have been tested having erosive effect on both bovine enamel and human enamel in vitro and in vivo studies. Fluoride-containing solution can inhibit the demineralization of enamel caused by beverages. The objective of this study was to Investigate the inhibiting effect of Fluor Protector on the demineralization of bovine enamel caused by some beverages. Methods:All the beverages were purchased from local supermarket randomly. The test beverages are colo and fruit juice. Sixty bovine teeth were divided into experimental and control group, each of them were subdivided into three groups. The enamel specimens of the experimental group were pretreated with Fluor Protector and then exposed to beverages, the enamel specimens of control group were exposed to beverages directly. All the enamel specimens were exposed to beverages 5 times a day and 5 minutes each time. The concentration of calcium and phosphate in the beverages were measured by EL 312e Micro-Plate after the bovine enamel was exposed to beverages during 7 days. Results:The data indicated that the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the beverages of experimental group were lower than that of control group. There were great significances between experimental group and control group., p<0.05. The inhibiting effect of Fluor Protector decreased as the time prolonged. Conclusions:The study concluded that Fluor Protector can inhibit the demineralization of bovine enamel caused by beverages.
