Clinical Application of Pulse-Microwave Physical Therapy to the Pericoronal Infection
Objective:To observe the effect of pulse-microwave physical therapy on the treatment of pericoronal infection. Methods:Forty cases of the acute wisdom tooth periconal infection were divided into two groups, the test (n=20) and the control groups (n=20), randomly. Both groups were treated with metronidazole and penicillin and gargling with compound chlorhexidine. Moreover, the test group was treated with microwave physical therapy. The frequency of pulse was 0.5 Hz/s, the wavelength of pulse was 100 °ª500 ms, and the power of pulse was 5%°ª50%. Microwave treatment was given one time per day, 10 minutes per time. The degree of pain and the width of the mouth opening were recorded at the beginning of the treatment, the third and fifth day after therapy. We evaluated the degree of pain with VAS method. Results:Both groups alleviated after therapy for 3 days and 5 days. But the condition of the test group was better than the control group. The degree of pain and the width of opening in the text group improved more than those in the control group. Conclusions:Pulse-microwave physical therapy was effectible on the pericoronal infection.
