Clinical Study on Therapy of Endodontitis in Aged with WandTM
Objective: As the population is aging, the question of aged people became the focus of attention. Endodontitis prevalence was high in the aged people who suffered from pain. Root canal therapy (RCT) is the best way to treat endodontitis in the aged. Pain leads to dental fear (DF) in the aged. In order to reduce the pain and eliminate DF, the WandTM ---- a kind of computer controlled local anesthetic delivery system was used under RCT. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the clinical effect on the therapy of endodontitis in aged people with the WandTM. Method: 38 cases of aged people who suffer from acute or chronic pulpitis were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control group. 19 cases of them were treated with the WandTM and the other 19 cases were treated with traditional local injection anesthesia as control. Results: DF of aged people in experimental group has evident reduced. The effective time of painless by anesthesia was better than the control group. Conclusion: The therapy of endodontitis in aged people with the WandTM is better than traditional local anesthesia.
