An evaluation of E-Q system endodontic obturation technique in vitro

Objectives: E-Q system is a root canal filling set, supporting quick, safe and convenient replacement the root canal. The study is aim to evaluate the obturation quality and sealability of E-Q system endodontic obturation technique in vitro. Methods: A total of 55 freshly extract human, mature single root teeth were divided into three identical groups of 17 teeth, then the effect and sealability of lateral condensation of gutter-percha or E-Q system were assessed by radiography and microleakage. Results: The rerults showed Group A had the most apical extrusion of sealer and sealability, and Group C had the least among three groups(P<0.05). For radiographic quality of obturation, Group C achieved significantly better score than Group A and B from the mesio-distal views(P<0.05),and there was no statistically significant difference among three groups from the bucco-lingual views. Conclusions: The study concluded that under laboratory conditions E-Q system had better sealability but poor radiographic quality than lateral condensation.
