Expression of Runx2/Cbfa1 in the Developing Periodontal Tissues of Mice
Objective:To study the expression and function of Runx2/Cbfa1 in the developing periodontal tissues of mice. Methods:A mice developing periodontal tissue study model was created histologically, then the immunohistochemical localization of Runx2/Cbfa1 in different developing stages was undertaken. Results:The mice developing periodontal tissue model was successfully employed in the study. The span of the developing periodontal tissue was from 5th day to 27th day after the birth. Runx2/Cbfa1 was located merely in the developing alveolar bone matrix immunohistochemically in the initial stage during the root development; meanwhile, it was mainly in periodontal ligament cells, cementoblasts, osteoblasts and osteocytes except the alveolar bone matrix in the later stage. Conclusion:Runx2/Cbfa1 is an essential regular factor in the differentiation of cementoblasts and osteoblasts and in the formation of periodontal tissues.
