The clinical use of Twin-flex clasp

Objectives: The cosmetic appearance of removable partial denture is great important for both the patient and dentist. The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effect of twin-flex clasp and find the another clasp design which can substitute for the traditional facial clasp. Methods: according to the different aims, 28 patients were divided into three groups. Group A is the comparison of the different fabrication techniques, one piece(casting with metal base) and two pieces(wrought wire soldering with metal base).Group B is to compare the effect of twin-flex clasp with resin plate and metal plate. Group C is to compare the traditional circumferential clasp and twin-flex clasp ,determine which one can achieve the patient satisfaction. All patients should fill the different questionnaire when they have adapted to their denture after 1 week. Results: Compared with one piece technique, twin-flex clasp which fabricated by two pieces can provide more retention and flexibility .The twin-flex clasps can provide proper retention and better esthetic than traditional circumferential clasps. The clinical use of twin-flex with resin plate is good prosthesis. Conclusion: Twin-flex clasp has good esthetic, easily adjusted and replaced and fabrication is simple and inexpensive.
