Different effect of four medium for the HPLF cell viability
Objective: The choice of storage medium for preserving traumatically avulsed teeth is important for the success of future replantation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of four different storage medium : Dubeco minimal essential medium (DMEM), milk, balanced salt solution (HBSS), saliva to serve as a temporary storage medium for the maintenance of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (HPLF) cell viability. Methods: We cultured HPLF in four storage medium at room temperature, then examine cell viability at 2h,4h,8h,12h,24h by MTT methods. Results: The highest cell viability was found in PDLF stored in culture medium at all check points, the second in milk, and the lowest in salt solution as well as in saliva. conclusion: Milk were the most effective media we could get in our daily-life for preserving the viability of HPLF at room temperature.
