Factors affecting the esthetic result of tetracyline teeth restored with all-ceramic

Objectives:To find different factors that affect the esthetic result of tetracyline teeth restored with all-ceramic crown. Methods:120 tetracyline teeth were seperated into two groups. Two groups of teeth were restored with all-ceramic crown with opaque layer and without opaque layer . Three colors of try-in paste as subgroups were tried on the two groups of prepared teeth respectively. Esthetic result was estimated by both eye observation and Shade Eye dental chrome meter.(SHOFU INC). Results:There is significant difference on the esthetic result with two groups and not with the subgroups. Conclusions: The results showed that all-ceramic crown without opaque layer had better and natural esthetic result than that of with opaque layer on tetracycline teeth.. But this result was under the condition when the tetracycline teeth were light or moderate. When the tetracycline teeth were heavy, opaque layer has to be used for all-ceramic crwon to get a satisfied esthetic result unless the thickness of the prepared teeth was more than normal.The color of cement does affect the esthetic results but not significantly.
