Evidence-based Analysis of Drug Treatment With Recurrent Oral Ulcer

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of medication for recurrent oral ulcer (ROU) and to give evidence-based recommendation.

Methods: To analyze papers concerning drug treatment on ROU on Chinese medical journals in the last five years by evidence-based analysis.

Results: There were totally 281 articles and only 18 of them met the criteria. META analysis showed that basic fiber blast growth factor (bFGF) treatment group has statistical significance against the control group, the 95% confidence interval is 0.432-0.656.

Conclusions: The quality of the reviewed studies is far from satisfaction and cannot meet the clinical needs. bFGF sprayer is an effective drug to relieve the pain and improve the symptoms of ROU patients in short term.
