Purpose: To evaluate clinician's attitudes toward debonded crowns on elderly patients. Methods: Five elderly patients (mean aged 83.3 years) with a single debonded anterior crown were referred for evaluation to three prosthodontic specialist. After clinical and radiographic evaluation all crowns were cemented. Digital photography's of the preparations and radiographs' were taken before cementation. A portfolio was built including all clinical cases images and a four hierarchy questions poll (Likert scale) ranging from conservative (cementation 1) to aggressive (implant placement 4) clinical attitudes. The portfolio was send to 50 last year dental students (Group A), 50 general practitioners (Group B) and 50 prosthodontics specialists (Group C) at Santiago, Chile who signed an anonymous and confidentiality form. Results were gathering. For statistical analysis Stata V10 program was used. For intergroup comparison, Anova Bonferroni post-hoc analysis was used to correlate aged. For comparison cases answer's between groups Kruskal-Wallis test was used. Results: Aged correlation was: Group A mean 22.94 (Std. Dev.6518). Group B 30.14 (Std. Dev.8083). Group C mean 35.96 (Std. Dev1.3696) p = 0.000. Group A, cases answers ranked 4 or 5. Group B ranked 1 or 2. Group C ranked 3 to 5. Statistical significant differences were found between groups A -C and B, case one p =0.002, case two p =0.001, case three p =0.004, case four p =0.001, case five p =0.003. Conclusions: Clinical attitude toward debonded crows on elderly patients was conservative for general practitioners while dental student and prosthodontics specialists share and aggressive clinical attitude for the same clinical situations.
