Compatibilty between four systems of external hexagon abutments
Purpose: The external hexagon connection is an implant-abutment interface connection widely used, existing several abutments company manufactures that are compatible with. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the compatibility between four different hex connection abutments, with respect to fit of the connection implant-abutment and the abutments roughness surface. Materials and Methods: To 4 implants Nobel Biocare Branemark System RP, it was connected to 1 Multiunit abutment Nobel Biocare, to 1 Multiunit abutment B&W, to 1 Microunit abutment (Conexao) and to 1 Conical abutment (Lifecore). Also it was examinated a Evolución 2 Rp implant with a Multiunit abutment of B&W, a Master Screw Rp implant of Conexao with a Microunit abutment of Conexao, and a Restore (Lifecore) Rp implant with a Conical abutment of Restore. The implant-abutment interface was examined by means of a radiographic examination, by means of a stereoscopic magnifying glass to 10x and 50x; and finally were examined in a longitudinal cut by means of optical methalographic microscopy to 100x and 200x. Results: The Multiunit abutments of Nobel Biocare and Conical abutments of Lifecore presented the major surfaces of contact implant-abutment. The Multiunit abutments of B&W and Microunit de Conexao presented more irregular limits and a minor surface of contact. Conclusions: The Multiunit abutments of Nobel Biocare, Conical of Restore (Lifecore), Multiunit of B&W, Microunit of Conexao are compatible with the connection of external hexagon of an implant Nobel Biocare RP. The systems Nobel Biocare and Lifecore present an ideal level of completion and adjustment.
