The aim of this report was to present the treatment of a patient diagnosed with the concrescence of a supernumerary tooth to a maxillary lateral incisor and the follow-up for two years without any complication.
Method:
M.Y. 10 years-old-girl was diagnosed with a supernumerary tooth located to adjacent of maxillary left lateral incisor. Patient medical history revealed no syndrome and disease. The extraction of supernumerary tooth was first tried in another dental clinic but referred to our department due to complete movement of both teeth. 3D dental volumetric tomography revealed the cementum junction between two teeth. Root canal treatment was performed for both of them. Then after surgical extraction of both teeth, they were separated by an Nd-YAG Laser and one of them was chosen to reimplant according to its root and crown shape. Reimplantation was followed by a semi-rigid fixation of two weeks. A month later orthodontic alignment was initiated and completed in 8 months.
Result:
The reimplanted tooth had no complication after two year of follow-up.
Conclusion:
Supernumerary teeth are affecting oral hygiene, occlusion and esthetics of pediatric patients. Early treatment of such cases prevents long-term orthodontic and restorative treatments. In our case the successful surgical extraction, separation by laser of fused teeth and its reimplantation with a follow-up for two years was presented.
