Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the oral health status and oral habits of children with Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF).

Methods: 199 children with FMF aged between 3 and 18 years was included in the study. Demographic findings and oral hygiene habits of children were obtained with a specially prepared questionnaire. Oral health status of patients was evaluated using DMFT, DMFS, dmft, dmfs, ICDAS, PUFA / pufa indices, gingival index(GI) and plaque index (PI). Besides occlusion and oral soft tissues were examined.
Results: The mean age of the children was 10.82±4.07 and 115(57.78%) of the patients were male. While 36.4% of mothers were graduated from primary school, 33.5% of fathers were graduated from high school. The frequency of tooth brushing was reported as rarely by 89 (44.9%) patients. 167 (84.3%) of the patients reported that they visited dentist when only they had a complaint.

The mean of DMFT was 1.91±2.45, DMFS was 3.1±4.49, dmft was 3.95±3.54, dmfs was 8.62±8.88, PI was 1.16±0.44, GI was 0.85±0.39 respectively. According to ICDAS II, 54.3% of the patients had score 5.

Flush terminal plane was the most common occlusion relation in primary dentition (55.26%) and Class 1 molar occlusion relation (73.9%) in permanent dentition.

Conclusions: Dental caries and periodontal disease, which are public health problems, have been seen in the high percentage of children with FMF. Increased awareness of FMF patients' oral hygiene motivation and regular dental visit is necessary.
