Homeopatia: análise da Calcarea phosphorica 6CH no reparo ósseo em ratos machos com osteopenia.
There are different treatments for osteoporosis but homeopathic drugs seem to have less side effects. The purpose of this work was to make radiographic and histological analysis of bone repair in osteopenic male rats, treated with Calcarea phosphorica 6CH. It was used 72 animals divided in three groups: castrated treated with homeopathy (H), castrated with placebo (C) and sham operated with placebo (Sham). Osteopenia was induced by castration. One month later monocortical 3mm bone lesions were made in all animals tibiae. The Calcarea phosphorica group received three drops/day orally and the other groups received placebo. The tibiae were removed at 7, 14 and 28 days (d), digital radiographies were obtained with Gendex XR 765DC to measure bone density using Image Tool program and were processed for histomorphometric analysis using a 72 points graticule with Image J program. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey (5% significance). Bone density results were: H (7d=118,63, 14d=125,63, 28d=108,87), C (7d=113,50, 14d=114,75, 28d=114,50) and sham (7d=116,38, 14d=107,50, 28d=96,63), while the histomorphometric ones were: H (7d=0,54±0,03; 14d=0,52±0,05; 28d=0,49±0,11); C (7d=0,63±0,06; 14d=0,50±0,06; 28d=0,37±0,05) and Sham (7d=0,71±0,073; 14d=0,39±0,05; 28d=0,46±0,06). The amount of new bone formation in group H at seven days was maintained until the end of the experiment, when was superior to group C and similar to Sham. Bone density in group H was superior to Sham and at the 28th day became similar to group C. The conclusion was that homeopathic treatment with Calcarea phosphorica 6CH was efficient in bone repair in these experimental conditions.
