Effect of diode laser in apical sealing with MTA retrofillings
The apical sealing is fundamental for apical surgery success, then it is necessary improve procedures that increase the sealing ability. Objectives:The purpose of this report was to evaluate the diode laser irradiation influence in apical sealing with MTA (mineral trioxide aggregate) retrofillings. Methods:Twenty extracted human dental roots were shaped and filling with gutta percha. After that each one had its apex cut and root end preparation was performed. The group 1 (ten specimens) was retrofilled with MTA. The group 2 was irradiated by diode laser, 1 W per 20 seconds, on the apical surface and root end cavity before the MTA filling. The samples had their external surfaces impermeabilized by cyanoacrylate except the apical one - then they were immersed in Rhodamine B dye for 72h. After they were included in plaster, and it was done longitudinal wear out. The linear dye leakage was measured by Image Lab software, and the results were analyzed statistically by Student t test. Results: There had not statistical differences between the groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: The diode laser irradiation did not get apical sealing increase in MTA retrofillings.
