Electronic File of Clinical Records on Endodontics

Objectives: The present study has consisted of the elaboration of an executable electronic data bank that may be used to register all the procedures accomplished at the endodontical setting. Methods: The Microsoft Visual Basic platform has been used to create representative formularies of the clinical records: Clinical Examination, Daily Procedures and Obturation, besides keeping a register of the students and another of the patients. On each formulary it is possible to add and update, on a daily basis, information related to the established procedures, as well as to save images and program radiographic and clinical controls. Results: In possession of the input data, it is possible to filter information, classify it as desired and follow-up each specific case by the issuance of data reports, images or graphs. The student quantitative and qualitative evolution, as well as the proceeding of an Endodontics course, both on graduation and post-graduation levels, may be maximized with the utilization of such resources. Conclusions: The results obtained during the assistance to 587 patients on Endodontics courses have allowed the conclusion that the electronic file has enlarged the possibilities for teaching evaluation on such speciality.
