Comparative analysis of rub heat promoted by 2mm implantology drills
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate under conditions simulating implant placement Methods: In bovine bone ribs, the cutting efficiency and heat production of twelve 2mm drills of 03 different Brands( nobel biocare, ankyloss and conexão). The temperature rise data were gathered through direct recording by heat sensitive nstruments(themocouples) in a hardware field logger that transfered the data to a computer software program that also recorded drilling time and depth. Each drill performed 30 osteotomies and the temperature were measured by thermocouples in a five osteotomy interval. Results: Although, nobel biocare and ankyloss drill were identified as single use only designation, temperature increase with different drills were not significantly different at depths of 05 or 10 mm. however, on 04 nonconsecutive osteotomies with ankyloss drill surpassed in 17 degrees the baseline temperature(20 degrees). Conclusion: Implant drills can be used several times without resulting in bone temperatures that are potentially harmful.
