Action of gel and cream of Endo PTC: microbiological analysis

The chemical substance auxiliary use is of great importance for the success of the endodontic treatment, and these must possess properties, such as the antimicrobian action. Objective: the present study under the aspect of its antimicrobian action had for objective to evaluate the action of the chemical substance Endo PTC(urea peroxide 10%, Tween 80 15%, and carbowax) used in the preparation of the systems of roots canals, having as variation the vehicle of its composition. Method: six experimental groups had been used: Group 1 - two plates of agar Miller Hinton contend urea peroxide in the 10% ; Group 2 - two plates of agar Miller Hinton contend Tween 80 in the 15% ; Group 3 - two plates of agar Miller Hinton contend Carbowax in the 75% ; Group 4 - two plates of agar Miller Hinton contend Carbopol in the 75% ; Group 5 - two plates of agar Miller Hinton contend 3g of gel of Endo PTC; Group 6 - two plates of agar Miller Hinton contend 3g of cream of Endo PTC. Results: the antimicrobian activity was demonstrated by Carbopol, Carbowax, urea peroxide, cream of Endo PTC and gel of Endo PTC, that had hindered the growth them tested microrganisms, with exception it Tween 80 that it did not have no antimicrobian activity. Conclusion: in view of the executed experimental model it was possible to conclude that the variation of the vehicle of Endo PTC gel (urea peroxide 10%, Tween 80 15% and carbopol) or Endo PTC cream (urea peroxide 10%, Tween 80 15%, and carbowax), did not promote alterations in the antimicrobian action.
