Evaluation and Quantizing of Midpalatal Suture with Software in RME

Objectives:The aim of this study was to evaluate and quantize the midpalatal suture through the occlusal radiograph digitalized before and after the opening.Methods:The sample had 17 patients, with age at 84 to 274 months. Occlusal radiographies were made of these patients before and after the opening the suture. The occlusal radiographs were digitalizing in Scanner HP Scanjet 6100 C with transparence adaptor HPC 6261 6100 C and software Deskscan II. The statistical analysis was used of average,standard deviation,variation of coefficient, "T" test and ANOVA.Results:We used ANOVA test with confidence interval of 95%, and observed significants statistical diferences between upper central incisors(p-value=0,001) and betwwen crest, opening in 10 mm area from crest to posterior and opening in 3 mm from the screw to posterior(p-value=0,000)para p °Ý 0,05. Conclusions:After the results, we concluded that: 1 - Statistically, there was a significant midpalatal opening in the incisors area; 2 - There was aning in the diastema between upper central incisors in about 69,38% of the cases; 3- There was bigger midpalatal suture opening in the 10 mm area from the crest to posterior , than, in the 3 mm area to posterior from the screw ; 4 - In the 3mm area to posterior from the screw , there was an opening of 35,97% and 69,38% of opening in the 10 mm area to posterior of the crest.
