Clinical and Histopatological Study of Gangliosides in Nervous Regeneration
Objectives:The present study had as purpose to evaluate of clinical and histopatological form the effect of the gangliosides use in the nervous regeneration, using an experimental model with superior vertebrates animals. Methods:Forty rats Spregue dawlley had their right sciatic nerves crushed by 1 minute through a haemosthatic tweezer. The animals were divided in experimental group (I) and control (II). The animals of the group I (n=20) received injection gangliosides intramuscular in the left thigh for a period of 25 days, while the rats of the group II (n=20) received infiltrations of distilled water. Clinical evaluation of the march was accomplished after 24 hours and 45 days of the surgical action and histopatological evaluation of the sciatic nerves after 45 days. Results:The animals of the group I presented larger occurrence and intensity of inflammatory reaction in comparison with the group II. Conclusions:There were not indications that the gangliosides use alters the march significantly after 45 days.
