Efficiency brushing on denture biofilm remotion with use disclose agent
Objectives: The efficiency of the brushing associated with home use disclose agent was evaluated on complete denture remotion. Methods: Thirty was divided in three's groups: I) Brush OralB40 (conventional); Johnson & Johnson and III) Denture, it both complete denture specific brush. The experimental periods (60 days) was divided in two stages. Stage I (control): the patients used the brushes associated with complete denture specific paste (Dentu-Creme); Stage II: with the brushing was associated the home use of neutral red at 1% just once a day. For the biofilm quantification, the internal surface was dye (Neutral Red) and photographed (Nikon) weekly. The surface's total area and the internal area with dye biofilm were measured with software Image Tool 2.02 auxiliary. Results: The results were expressed in percentage. The brushes analyze (Kruskal-Wallis), for stage I, the medium compare (Oral B40: 10,56%, Johnson & Johnson: 14,86% and Denture: 4,41%) showed significant difference (5%) between Johnson & Johnson and Denture, that was better. In the stage II, there was no statistical difference between the brushes. Wilcoxon Test showed significant difference between two stages. Conclusions: Denture brush was more efficient when associated with paste without home use dye. When the disclose was used with the brushing, the biofilm remotion was more efficient, independently of brush used. The brushing with the home use disclose dye was more efficient.
