ANALYSIS OF 45 CASES OF SYPHILIS ATTENDED AT A DENTAL CLINIC OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITAL IN CORDOBA CAPITAL.

Syphilis is a bacterial sexually transmitted infection (STI). According to the OMS there are 12 million new cases each year worldwide. In the province of Cordoba  tripled  the rate es of syphilis cases between 2010 and the 2017 according to the data of epidemiological Bulletin of the Ministry of health of the nation. OBJECTIVE: To study the epidemiológical caracteristics of a group of patients with oral  syphilis. MATERIAL and methods: An observational, retrospective study of medical patients records attended at the clinic of Odontology of  Rawson Hospital with a diagnosis of syphilis in the period 2015-18. Gender, age, educational level, place of residence, association with other STI, type of sexual practice, and number of sexual partners in the last year. RESULTS: 45 cases were analyzed. 53% were women, the average age of 30 years (range 17-57). In relation to the educational level,, 60% had complete or higher studios secundarios. Most were Córdoba residents (71%). The type of heterosexual relationship was the most frequent (76%); 50% had 2 or more sexual partners in the last year and 73% (n 33) does not use sexual protection barrier in the usual way. 80% of the patients did not present other STI; in cases with HIV Association, was the most frequent infection. CONCLUSIONS: although it is a population with a good instruction level, most not use protective barrier in the usual way. This observation leads us to question the way in which is coming to the population through education and public health policies.
