ACQUISITION OF PREVENTIVE MEASURES AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF SELF CARE ORAL HEALTH PRACTICES BY THIRD YEAR STUDENTS OF DENTAL SCHOOL, NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF CORDOBA.

Objective: The objective of the present work was to  know the acquisition of habits of self care  oral health in students who take and pass with high grade Preventive Odontology and Social I year 2009, as well as, the recommendations on these practices to their relatives and community members; in order to value the impact of knowledge acquired. Method: In this study were include, previous consent, 70 students. In order to know self-care practices incorporated and transmitted; a survey, self-supplied was used, which included the variables: technique and frequency of brushing, dental floss use change in the type and frequency of renewal of the brush and cariogenic diet. The data were expressed by means of absolute and relative frequency, with test of hypothesis of differences of proportions p-value < 0,05. Results: Results: 84.1% implemented oral hygiene techniques acquired during the course. 72.9% changed the frequency of brushing and 96.3% of these added brushing after every meal. The variation in the frequency of renewal of brush was present in 58.6% of the students, 69.7% by incorporating the use of dental floss. With regard to the recommendations of family members, 81.5% instructed on techniques of brushing, 98.6% stressed the importance of frequency and 89.4% recommended the use of toothbrush. Conclusion: Assuming that self-care in oral health is an everyday experience and its promotion in the community is a purpose of our curriculum, the results implies a recognition of curricular activities, since the 94.3% recommended the use of dental brush  and its correct frequency.
