A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF THE POPULATION ATTENDING THE INTEGRAL ODONTOPEDIATRIC MODULE.

To know the characteristics of the population attending the Dental Hospital Service of the Child Jesus of Tucuman, hospital monovalent highly complex, since the implementation of integral module (MIO), the reason for consultation and the level reached in the resolution treatments (basic and integral discharges).-
We conducted a sampling of convenience. Were selected the clinica history made in the Diagnostic Clinic 2 most experienced professionals in Pediatrics, previously gauged. These Clínica history correspond to the period August 2007-January 2008. We recorded age, sex, cause of consultation, social coverage, further studies, prescription medication, level of resolution (basic and integral discharges) and patients with systemic diseases. The children were categorized into <2 years, between 2 – 6 años; > 6 years. We obtained the frequencies of the variables and tested them through Fisher's exact test and chi square.The sample consisted of 329 stories clínicas.50% (164) corresponds to the female sex. All patients attended the MIO for spontaneous demand: 1% were <2 years; 41% between 2 - 6años and 58% > 6 years. In groups of 2-6 and > 6 years 39 children and 48 had systemic diseases respectively. Reason for consultation: 66% (217) by decay and 6% in healthy children Control (18). 71% had no social security cover. In 68% radiological studies were requested (222), and was prescribed antibiotics and Aines 25% (84). Level resolution reached: 30% integral discharges (99), 5% basic discharges (15) and neglect treatment 17% (56). Association was found among patients with systemic disease and social coverage (p = 0.0073) and among patients with systemic diseases and those who did not leave the treatment (p> 0.99).
It was found that the main reason for consulting the population under study was decay, and that less than a third of patients reached integral discharges.
