ACADEMIC CORRELATION PERFORMANCE / LABOUR SITUATION IN THE 2003 COHORT
The need to work of many students can influence in their academic performance and the duration of their studies. The objective of this work is to establish the correlation between academic achievement and employment status of students in the 2003 cohort of the 1st to 4th year of the University, as this could act as a negative factor in it. It is a longitudinal study-descriptive, the universe is made up of students from the 2003 cohort of FOLP the data was obtained using a structured survey, and the records of scores for the subjects of the 1st to 4th year of the University. Were taken as indicators of the average yield notes and subjects studied and the final status. About a total of 474 students enrolled in 2003, 62.87% are not working, working and 25.32% 11.81% did not respond. Of the students who do not work: in the first year were 73.49%, with an average of notes 5, 36 and subjects studied by 3.44 (on a total of 5 subjects), in second year became regular the 41.95%, with an average of 5.44 notes and materials made of 3.70 (on a total of 6 subjects); the third year were regular the 15.10%, with an average of 5 notes, 90 subjects studied and of 6.60 (on a total of 7 materials), in the 4th year won the regularity the 14.09%, with an average of 5.40 notes and materials made of 6.38 (on a Total 7 subjects) Regarding students who work: in the first year were regular the 64.17% notes with an average of 5.17 and 3.20 of subjects studied in the 2nd year were regular the 35% with an average notes 5.26 and 3.38 of subjects studied. In the 3rd year were scheduled the 11.67% notes with an average of 5.96 and 6.36 of subjects studied in 4th year won the regularity with a 10% average notes 5, 83 and subjects studied by 5.08. There is a higher percentage of students free or not studied among those who work. As for those who obtained the regularity there is no significant difference in the average number of notes and subjects made from the 1st to 3rd year, while in the 4th year the average is lower in subjects studied students who work.
