Facial Cleft With Amelia

Objective:We aim at presenting a case of facial cleft with multiple limbs anomalies in a 4-month old male child.

Method:The mother and the case note were used.

Results: A 4 months old male child was seen at the oral and maxillofacial specialist hospital with facial cleft. Examination revealed a unilateral cleft lip and palate, Amelia of the left upper limb and fusion of the toes. He was delivered through spontaneous vagina delivery and the mother attended anti-natal clinic all through. The heart was on the left, abdominopelvic scan was normal. The parents who are both midwives had earlier contacted an orthopedic surgeon who told them about the possibility of a prostheses. He had the lip repaired under general anesthesia and the procedure was uneventful. While he await repair of the palate, the parents are encouraged to see the orthopedic surgeon again.

Conclusion: Multiple birth defect can present as a challenge to the attending surgeon. Key words: Facial cleft, Amelia
