Comparison between immediate and conventional implant loading for fixed and removable prosthesis: A scoping review

Objectives: Is to compare immediate implant loading with conventional implant loading when a fixed and/or removable prosthesis are placed.
Methods: A scoping review using the Arksey and O'Malley six-step framework. This framework included:Identifying the research question by using a specialized framework PICO; Identifying relevant studies; Study selection; Charting the data; Collating, summarizing and reporting the results and Consultation.
Results: The studies for this review included 157 records identified from database searching and 33 records from additional souorces. After duplicates were removed, 50 abstracts were screened but only 35 were included for the qualitative synthesis. Outcomes were themed into implant survival success or failure rate, marginal bone loss, bone quality and quantity and its role affecting primary stability. Results proved that immediate dental loading was comparable to conventional dental loading. But in some instances , results were better with conventional dental implant loading. No signficant difference with regards to implant survival and marginal bone loss were found between the two systems.
Conclusions: Immediate and conventional dental implant loading with fixed or removable prostheis are comparable and both protocols can be used for a successful treatment option.
