Soft Tissue Stability in Immediate Implant and Provisionlization in the Esthetic Zone
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate retrospectively soft tissue stability in the esthetic zone after extraction and immediate implant placement with screw retained provisional crown simultaneously with bone grafting.
Methods: Twenty five patients who received immediate implants with screw retained provisional crowns in the anterior zone more than two years ago were recruited in the study. Immediately after extraction of the hopeless tooth, osteotomy was performed and relatively longer implant 15 mm was placed. The buccal gap was filled with a mix of DFDBA and xenograft. The procedure was done flaplessly. Dependent variables were Gingival recession, amount of keratinized gingiva, papilla index and radiographic bone level were taken at baseline and two years later. Results: Gingival recession was reduced by 1.7±1.3-mm and keratinized tissue was increased by 0. 8±1.4-mm. Papillae index by Jem was improved from 1.8 to 2.5. There was also radiographic bone gain of 2.5±2.5-mm bone gain. Conclusions: Immediate implant placements along with bone grafting can give successful esthetic outcome without the need of multiple surgical procedures of soft tissue grafting.
