Objectives: To study the depth of cure of various dental composites using Vicker’s hardness testing Methods: Three dental composite, Bulk EZ (Danville), SonicFill (Kerr), ZNano (Danville), and all A2 shaded, were used in the study. Using a mold of 10 mm in depth, 8 mm in diameter, composites were filled into the cavities and cured according to the respective manufacturer’s instructions. The surfaces at respective depth were slightly polished on #2000 SiC sandpaper. Vicker’s hardness was then tested on a Phase II Micro Vickers Hardness Tester (Phase II). Results: Results of Vicker’s hardness of three composites, at different depth, are shown in the table. It can be seen that Bulk EZ has nearly unchanged Vicker’s hardness all the way to 8 mm of depth. SonicFill and ZNano has significant hardness drop after 4 mm of depth, and neither has significant curing at the depth of 8 mm.
* Means with different letters in the same column were statistically different at p < 0.05, using ANOVA tests. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, Bulk EZ exhibited depth of cure of 8 mm.
